American Arena League Announces the addition of Jersey Flight
December 15, 2017 – Plainfield, NJ
The American Arena League (AAL) is proud to announce the addition of the Jersey Flight arena football team. Jersey Flight will begin play in 2018 and will play on Primepoint Field, in the CURE Insurance Arena (formerly Sun National Bank Center) in Trenton, New Jersey.
The American Arena League is in its second season, evolving from a merger of the Arena Pro Football League and the Can-Am Indoor Football League.
The AAL’s 13 teams are located in Atlanta, GA; Anderson, SC; Boone, NC; Burlington, VT; Charlotte, SC; Glens Falls, NY; Fayetteville, SC; Lakeland, FL; Macon, GA; Raleigh, NC; Richmond, VA; Rochester, NY and now, Trenton, NJ. The league is operated by a management team of industry veterans and retired professional athletes with over 30 years’ experience in professional sports.
Four of the AAL teams have won championships in other leagues and five have competed in championship games. American Arena League includes a mixture of former players from the NFL, CFL and AFL and SEC, Big 10 and Pac10 players.
Jersey Flight is owned by the team’s Vice President & CFO, Kyna Felder-Ruiz and team President & CEO, Samuel Davis, Jr. Mr. Davis is a retired sergeant from the New Jersey State Police. He currently owns and operates Get Organized Tax & Accounting, LLC.
Mr. Davis encompasses a deep passion for sports and a philanthropic purpose to give back to his home state of New Jersey. Sam says, “We have been given a chance to do something that we never thought possible – the chance to not only be a part of a movement that puts our state back on the map but also that we are here to stay. No matter what we will persevere. We are proud to be a part of the AAL and excited to have the opportunity to play among so many talented coaches and players. We are a part of a league who are all as passionate as we are. The time has come to show that we are ‘Jersey Strong’ and that we will take flight”.
Mrs. Felder-Ruiz is a former Licensed Securities holder (series 6 and 7). She was formally a Public Safety Tele-Communicator for the State Police of New Jersey and is currently a co-owner and tax preparer at Get Organized Tax & Accounting, LLC. Mrs. Felder-Ruiz has a lifelong love of athletics. She is also the second female firefighter to serve in the city of Plainfield, New Jersey.
Kyna states, “As Vice President of Jersey Flight I am very proud to be a part of a league that stands with the same values as we do. Jersey Flight, as well as the AAL, is passionate about getting the community involved and showing the youth of our community that with perseverance anything is possible. We will show the community that Jersey Flight is for the community and that we will be the definition of ‘Jersey Strong'”.
New Jersey native, Jake Grande, is the Head Coach of Jersey Flight. Jake has 8 plus years of experience in coaching Arena Football where he was part of two Conference Titles and Three Arena Bowl Appearances, topping it off with an Arena Bowl Championship in the AFL in 2012. Jake says, “As the Head Coach of the New Jersey Flight I could not be more excited to be a part of the AAL. This league is filled with talented people from the front office to the coaches and players. We look forward to the 2018 season and brining pro football to NJ.”
