Flight sign indoor veteran QB Warren Smith Jr.

The Jersey Flight signed New Jersey native and eight year Arena Football veteran Warren Smith Jr. Smith has played eight seasons of Arena Football and was the 2017 National Arena League MVP. Off the field Smith is a high school teacher and football coach at his Alma mater Lacey Township High School.

“To be able to play in your home state is a great opportunity,” Smith said. “It’s always good to have your family and friends be able to come out and watch you play. I played in Trenton a few years ago and I’d like nothing more than to bring a championship back to Trenton,” Smith said.

In the National Arena League’s inaugural season in 2017, Smith threw for 1,953 yards and 56 touchdowns while completing 66% of his passes. He also rushed for 100 yards and five touchdowns.

Smith went on to play two seasons in the Arena Football League most recently for the Atlantic City Blackjacks. With the Blackjacks Smith played in four games and threw for 994 yards and 19 touchdowns, and an additional 5 rushing touchdowns.

Jersey Flight are a professional indoor football team based in Trenton, New Jersey, and the newest member of the National Arena League (NAL). The team will play its first season with the NAL in 2020 and played its two previous seasons in the American Arena League (AAL). The team is owned by New Flight Enterprises, LLC, and the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey is the team’s home arena.
